Mori Building Co. and Sumitomo Realty & Development Co. announced on May 15 that they have selected Rosewood as the hotel operator for the Roppongi 5-Chome West District Category 1 Urban Redevelopment Project (Roppongi 5-Chome Project), marking Rosewood’s debut in the Tokyo market.
Inside Rosewood Tokyo: Luxury Hospitality at the Roppongi 5-Chome Project
Rosewood, the operator of an ever-evolving global collection of hotels, resorts and residences, currently manages 43 properties in 25 countries. As the brand’s first foray into Tokyo, Rosewood Tokyo will occupy the top floors of the 330-meter main tower of the Roppongi 5-Chome Project. Soaring above the 16,000-square-meter “urban forest” landscaping surrounding the building, Rosewood Tokyo will offer an attractive blend of cultural inspiration and tranquil healing within the heart of Tokyo.
In addition to some 200 guest rooms, the development will feature a variety of restaurants, banquet halls and a spa. The Roppongi 5-Chome Project will also introduce event halls and conference facilities that Rosewood Tokyo will seamlessly integrate with for enhanced meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) in the centrally located Roppongi area of Tokyo.

Vision Behind the Project
Shingo Tsuji, president and CEO of Mori Building, said, “We are delighted to welcome Rosewood to Tokyo through this partnership, which fulfills Rosewood’s long-held goal of expanding into the city. Roppongi 5-chome is an ideal location for this endeavor, which will create new value in Tokyo’s luxury market and boost the city’s global competitiveness.”
Kojun Nishima, president of Sumitomo Realty & Development Co., commented, “We are thrilled to partner with Rosewood to create exceptional value through the Roppongi 5-Chome Project, a landmark development that symbolizes the future of Tokyo. We are confident that Rosewood’s distinctive vision and legendary hospitality will help transform the project into a one-of-a-kind global destination that captivates the world.”
